A lazy day at home

Here are a couple of pictures and a video from our morning. It's been a lazy day around here and Lilly is yet to be out of her pajamas. Truth be told it might not even happen until bath time this evening. I continue to realize how blessed I am to have such a happy baby. Although we haven't left the house I've been able to get a few things done around here....sort through baby clothes, write a couple of letters, read my devotion, workout and even get an early start on dinner. It's fun getting to be at home with Lilly and I'm thankful that I have the opportunity to spend days like today with her.

Playing in my crib after a nap.

11 months old

Today Lilly is 11 months old. We had a home visit from the PAT (Parents As Teachers) this afternoon and although Lilly is still not crawling she scored higher than average on her verbal and cognitive skills. This week she has learned the word "nigh nigh", "go" and "baby" and has started waving bye-bye. It amazes me how quickly she picks up on new sounds and mimics the sounds I make. What an exciting time in our lives!!

A visit from Mimi and Papa.

Having a stare down with my cousin Rylee.

Not only can I stand like this for a long period of time but I've also started standing unassisted for short periods of time. Mobility may well be on its way!!

On Saturday, Mike's Great-Grandma (Lilly's Great-Great Grandma) celebrated her 95th birthday. We had the opportunity to attend her party and meet a lot of family for the first time. It's neat to think that Lilly is part of 5 generations.

10 1/2 months old

Today I'm excited to report that Lilly gained 2 pounds over the last 6 weeks. She weighed in at 17 lbs. 1 oz. and is now in the 10th percentile for weight. Way to go Lilly!!

Recently Lilly has learned a few new things. She now plays peek-a-boo by covering up her eyes with her arm and then pulling it away in anticipation of someone saying "peek-a-boo". Other than "mama", "dada" and "baba" she has recently learned to say "clock". I hung a clock in her room and not only did she recognize something new in her room but was facinated by the clock and would stare at it and smile. I kept pointing to it saying "clock" and she started saying "c" which evenentually led to "cck" and now "cuck". It's cute watching her say it and even more fun watching her learn. She is also starting to jabber a lot more when she wakes up in the morning. I walked in this morning to find her playing with her fingers and talking to them as if she was actually having a conversation with them. I'm still amazed at the growing process and how every day is something new and different. This little girl is such a joy and blessing....my cup runneth over!!

Cosmo Bowling

We met up with some friends for a surprise 30th birthday party at PowerPlay. Lilly enjoyed her first Cosmo Bowling experience and then slept through the noisy arcades and indoor go-carts. We enjoy taking this little girl along wherever we go and she always seems to adapt well as she loves taking in the sights of new places.

Singing "Happy Birthday" to Clint!

Can you see me?

That bowling ball weighs more than me?

Little Bundle...Big Joy!!!

Over the last week and a half Lilly has really began to blossom in so many new and exciting ways. She has become such a happy baby almost all of the time. She is more content to play by herself and enjoys taking in the sights and sounds of new places. She use to demand attention and care around the clock and now it is almost as if she is becoming independent. It's nice to be able to accomplish tasks around the house knowing that she can entertain herself. Although she will still cry on occasion when I leave the room it is starting to become less often. Lilly has also started to gain weight. I don't actually have the proof on paper yet (stay tuned next week) but I've had multiple comments in the last 3-4 days about how much she seems to be growing and filling out. Of course being around her all the time it is harder to notice these changes but I do see that her cheeks are starting to fill out and have even noticed a couple of rolls developing on her legs.
I remember when Lilly was first born and I would sit and just stare at her as she would sleep. I've fallen back into that routine and it's almost like I just can't get enough of her. There is something about the stillness of a child that is breathtaking.
