So, so tired!!

This morning Lilly woke up a little earlier than usual. So, after my workout I put her in her highchair for breakfast. I was in the other room putting a few things away and when I came back to the kitchen Lilly had fallen asleep in her highchair. She typically doesn't take a nap until late morning but apparently today she was too tired to wait.

On the move...

Although there is not an official term for this form of mobility Lilly sure seems to be finding a way to get around. The other day she was rolling around on the floor and when Mike and I looked up she was standing up at her toy box. I guess she was really wanting a toy and decided to just get it herself.

Splish Splash

Today Lilly had her first experience in the pool. I wasn't sure what she would think about the experience but was thoroughly surprised at how much she enjoyed it. She was in the pool for about 2 hours and laughed and splashed (mostly herself) the entire time. She didn't cry at all until the end when I sat her down to try and get a picture. We're looking forward to going again!

Watching for the Ice Cream Truck

Yesterday afternoon we were at the park playing and the ice cream truck came by. Of course the kids wanted some ice cream but I didn't have any money with me. I told them we would get some when he came back after dinner. Later that evening the kids asked me if they could watch for the ice cream truck and I told them to watch out the window. Moments later I walked through the front room and this is what I found...

Thankfully Lilly was already in bed or I may have found her on top of someone's shoulders.

House of 5

This week we are keeping our niece (8) and nephew (5) while their parents are on vacation. We picked them up on Saturday evening and will have them until next Sunday afternoon...yes, that's 9 days and 8 nights. So far the weather has been nice so we've been taking advantage of the park across the street. I think we're averaging about 4 hours a day there. We have also been to church, a movie, the library and zoo and plan to go to the pool, petting farm and out to dinner later this week. Although we've had a lot of fun I'm also starting to catch a glimpse of what it's like having more than one child....exhausting!!! Fortunately the kids are very well behaved and they provide a lot of entertainment for Lilly. I have a feeling the house is going to seem very quiet once they're gone.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Playing peek-a-boo after dinner

Practicing the army crawl with daddy. Mommy and the kids came in from the park half way through and distracted me.

A day at the zoo

Yesterday the temperature was 76 degrees....in March??!! So, Mike took the day off and we headed to the zoo. Of course this week is spring break so the place was literally a zoo. After 3 1/2 hours of walking, 2 snack breaks and a missed nap we made it through the entire zoo (except the snakes, of course). Lilly did really well and it was fun watching her study the different animals. Maybe now she'll have a better understanding of her "Noah's Ark" book!!

Lilly is a little over a year now and still not crawling or walking but does seem to find a way to get around.

Just a swingin'

The last few days have been absolutely beautiful outside. Yesterday we went for an hour walk and today we enjoyed the afternoon at the park swinging. Days like today remind me that Spring is on its way.

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday to my wonderful husband and father of our precious daughter. I'm so thankful that God brought us together and has blessed us with such a wonderful family. I love the way you make me laugh, challenge my thinking, encourage me to grow and inspire my spirit but most of all I thank you for your daily commitment to be the man God has called you to be.

The party...

We had a fun time at our party on Saturday...lots of guests, fun presents and yummy cake/cupcakes. Lilly enjoyed hearing us sing happy birthday to her and after a little help blowing out her candle she dug right into the cupcake. She wasn't too impressed by all the sugar but we did enjoy the cute faces she made. She decided to rub her eye half way through and ended up with an irritated eye. After that she was done celebrating and was ready for a nap. Even at that it was a fun day and a great reason to be celebrating.
